Fan no. 83 - Stuart Burgess

Name: Stuart Burgess, 22, Penrith, NSW, Australia.

Not that I write in third person all the time but... Stuart Burgess is a guy who loves kung fu movies since he was 6 years old. I have studied kung fu before and am planning to get back into it again. I have two heroes in my life - Jackie Chan and my Grandfather! I went on a quest to find Jackie Chan from April - June 2010 and spent time traveling to 17 provinces around China without knowing a lot of Mandarin. I found two wax figures of Jackie Chan that I have posed next too, 1 in Hong Kong and one in Shanghai, as well as an awesome Chan action figure... but no REAL Mr. Chan. I also have a bucket list (or a list of things I want to do before I die) and meet Jackie Chan is on there, hence my quest to either get a photo with him or meet him myself.

What attract you to Jackie Chan and his films? His crazy, almost impossible stunts in every film of course! He's like Spiderman, with quicker feet and more awesome abs and in every movie he attempts something no other wussy stuntman would approve of! Remember the time he scaled the security wall of the embassy in Rush Hour and you were like "what?!!!!"... that's the stuff that makes him great. Or moments later when he took off the agents belt and pointed the agents gun back at him! Classic!

His movies are also pretty funny too -the deleted scenes at the end of each movie are absolutely hilarious and let you know that he does do his stunts for real!

What do you admire most about Jackie Chan? Jackie Chan may very well be some sort of herculean demigod. He is indestructible, not only physically but mentally. The way he is able to put his life on the line when he performs the crazy stunts and fight scenes is amazing, he would know his doctors like the back of his hand given all his visits for his injuries.

Nobody but Jackie Chan tells him what to do when it comes to stunts and when it comes to philosophy of life. He believes that you can achieve anything you put your mind too and I try to live my life by this motto. He gets what he wants because he works for it and is motivated to put in the hard work to get his body as fit as it can be, which takes A LOT of time and effort. Any extra time is spent on movies or on publicity. I think his thoughts regarding Cambodian landmines and on the earthquake relief in China is really noble too, would love to help out one day with the earthquake relief. I heard that Jackie was so modest and hardworking, that he would wash his own socks to save on laundry bills when staying in fancy hotels!!

Name 3 Jackie Chan films that come to mind?
What is your most favourite Jackie Chan film and why?

3 good films that come to mind starring Jackie Chan:

Miracles (also called Mr Canton and Lady Rose) - because he is awesome and it has gangsters...

Project A - because he is awesome and it has pirates...

The Legend of the Drunken Master - because he is awesome and he is drunk. This is my favorite film though, because it has the best training montage of any of his films. He hangs out with this crazy old man that reminds me of my Grandfather and he trains through almost insane conditions to, eventually, become the most awesome drunken style fighter ever! The fight scenes are very weird and creative given he has to pretend to be drunk the whole thing!

One fact you know about Jackie Chan He sang the Chinese version of Mulan's "I'll Make a Man Out of You"

A personal message from you to Jackie Chan Jackie, you are an absolute legend and someone the world will never forget. I certainly will never forget you in my lifetime and I continue to live my life with you as inspiration; not only as an inspiration to do martial arts and keep fit and strong, but just in the way your never give up attitude has brought you to where you are today. Perhaps someday I will be as lucky as you have been, but as you would probably say "we make our own luck". Please continue to make many more movies and help people in need with the money you've earned from your hard work. I'm sure you'll agree that your life was a good one. If you ever need help with relief I would fly over to China to assist you, I am a man of my word too - you can test me on that! For now, I am planning to become a firefighter to save lives in my own way.

A filmmaker/martial artist/stunt woman who's trying to build her dynasty in this industry. i've been a screen writer for 13 years.i've studied stunts and martial arts for almost 10 years and it's because of none other than jackie chan that i'm inspired to do what i do.

Website:

What Attracts you to Jackie & his films?
First and foremost what attracts me to jackie and his films are definitely his originality. i love his creativity with acting, martial arts, and stunts. that alone was what led me to loving his films, which in turn led me to love him as an individual.

Most people would go crazy simply because of the fact that we're talking about jackie chan but for me it's different. it has been a struggle my entire life simply trying to enter the world of films and martial arts. seeing the type of person jackie is and seeing his positivity and the way he gives back to the world is what gave me that extra push to the things i've always wanted to do. not only does seeing his films reminds me all the time that ANYTHING is possible, even if we have to be a little crazy to achieve what we want but also that it's okay to want the things that we desire. to feel is to believe. and to believe is to achieve.

recently became friends with mr. jackie chan on facebook.com and it has been such an honor the few times he spoke to me and acknowledged what i wrote about him. that alone is enough to keep me going in my struggle and no matter what happens i'll never give up when it comes to pursuing my goals, which includes working with the amazing jackie chan. i love him. plain and simple.

Name the 3 Jackie Chan films that come to mind?
Twin Dragons, The New Police Story, Snake in the Eagle's Shadow. Of course a LOT more come to mind, but this is what i'm writing down for now.

What is your most favourite Jackie Chan film and why?
I wouldn't say it's fair to name just one Jackie Chan movie that is a favorite because I have too many favorites. But I'm going to pick The Forbidden Kingdom. And I'm picking that because in a way the story represents, for me, the dream of something someone loving so much actually coming true. And not only that but he's working with another legend that I love which is Jet Li. That story simply opened up my heart in a new way, and it let's me not feels so bad about myself for believing in an "alternate reality."

Did you know -- Jackie Chan and I have alot in common, in particular loving facebook.

Leave a personal Message for Jackie:

Dear Kong-Sang Chan,

For my entire life, I was able to look to you from afar to give me courage, to give me extra strength, and to give me the most important thing that everyone needs growing up: belief in myself. Everyday I struggle with not having enough confidence and self esteem, and everyday I also look to you for needed inspiration that you never fail to give to me with each passing day.

At times I felt down, you lift my spirit, and til this day I love to refer to you as my "rock in spirit" (the in spirit part because you aren't physically with me, and rock, because you are my rock)

Some day (hopefully soon) I want to make you proud of me because not only do I want to do films (with you) but also I want to make it part of my life's work to give back to the world the way you do. To help those in need and to give them courage and hope the way you have given me. There are a lot of things that are more important than money, so I want to give back in a way that has nothing to do with more, but about hope, and world peace some day. Thank you for giving me everything that you have even from a long distance. And I will continue to make my mark while keeping you in my heart while doing so. Thank you.

As well as being a fan of Jackie Chan, I’m also big on working up a sweat at the gym, going combat classes (maria can vouch that) and playing tennis. I'm an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers and on a typical Friday evening, I’d be at a pub having a few with some mates. Like all Asians, I eat rice every day and I love it.

What Attracts you to Jackie & his films? His action packed films are good but his accent and the bloopers at the end of his films are always a laugh.

What do you admire the most about Jackie? He breaks down the stereotype of Asian men being portrayed as the weaker and inferior race by being the dominant player in his films. On top of this, he is one of only a handful of Asian actors that I know of that’s done so well in Hollywood.

A dedicated individual, who's passion is in the film industry. Always looking for adventure and new challenges.

What Attracts you to Jackie & his films? The comic humour he adapted from the classic Charlie Chaplin and the amazing stunt choreography that Jackie pulls of himself with his Hong Kong stunt team in the early days.

Name the 3 Jackie Chan films that come to mind?
The Young Master, Police Story and Dragon Lord (aka Dragon Strike)
What is your most favourite Jackie Chan film and why? Tough question; Toss up between the two- Police Story and Armour of God. It would be the absolutely mind-blowing stunts and choreography involved in the films. These two films had some of Jackie's most memorable stunts, such as the double-decker chase scene in the start of Police Story. Both films opened with some intense stunt action but were balanced out with some great humour.

Did you know, Jackie Chan…
Is just too talented for his own good. Also, he was raised at a drama academy (Peking Opera School) when he was younger, that's why his a crazy stuntman.

Fan No.62 - Lily

Name: Lily, 17, Campsie, NSW – AUSTRALIA.

I'm hyperactive, friendly, Japanophile, die hard fan of Jackie Chan, martial arts enthusiast and also happy-go-lucky person.

What attracts you to Jackie & his films? I've been a big fan for over 10 years and since then I cannot stop watching his films. His amazing martial arts skills, his wonderful personality, being a comedian at heart & his amazing life from being a stuntman in a Bruce Lee film to being a superstar attracted me to him. He always works hard and loves it also he still stays strong. In the movies his films attract me because of how he always plays the hero in nearly every movie except rob-b-hood and shinjunku incident. And also the humour that he brings like when he tricks his villians when fighting. He's unstoppable!!

What do you admire the most about Jackie? Everything! like his generosity to us and because of his works for charity, how he admires us fans, resiliant because whenever he feels unhappy, he has our support to get back up on his feet. He's always coming up with new ideas like naming his pandas, La & Zy. He's such an awesome role model for everyone including children. He really changed my life by his bravery, motivated me to speak another language and he even motivated me to start martial arts, it used to be Wing Chun (because we do this for sport at school) but now I moved on and currently doing Tae Kwon Do.He's always my inspiration and always a great influence to everyone. When I feel sad, I would think what Jackie would do if he were to be like that. And his assistant inspired me, I want to work with him one day. And if he can make people smile, that won't stop me from making people smile.

Name the 3 Jackie Chan films that come to mind?
Shinjunku Incident, Drunken Master & Jackie Chan's First Strike

What is your most favourite Jackie Chan film and why? Project A, because it was my first ever movie and one of my favourites, I've watched when I was 7 and I asked my mother if the guys wearing sailor suits were wearing school uniforms.

Did you know, Jackie Chan almost faced his death by falling from a long height in Armour of God losing some of his hearing and a cracked skull, which led him to wearing a steel cap. And his short hair was also caused by that too.

Leave a personal Message for Jackie: Jackie, I would hug you & cry to thank you for everything, if it weren't for you, I would be useless. I've been raised watching your movies. You've been my hero from my childhood till now and in future and this means a lot to me, thank you once again for your motivation. And you never fail to surprise and entertain us and a modern superhero and the most infuential person ever. I would definitely want to see you, when you visit Australia again!

What do you admire the most about Jackie? The fact that he has had so many injuries and he is still kicking butt now, his is persistent and hard working, definitely something to admire.

Thank you for kicking butt in the Hollywood film industry.

Fan No.60 - Vincent Chan

Name: Vincent Chan, 21, Waterloo, CANADA

I'm a Masters student of pure mathematics, hoping to become a professor. I have a black belt in karate, and love to do all kinds of martial arts; recently, I have also taken up parkour. I am always trying to find ways to get involved and volunteer, and it seems as though my schedule is always packed!

What Attracts you to Jackie & his films? I admire his courage in doing his own stunts, his incredible athleticism evidenced by jaw-dropping action scenes, and the brilliant humour involved. His comedies are sure to have me doubling over in fits of laughter, while the fight choreography is simply awe-inspiring.

What do you admire the most about Jackie? His determination and attitude. From humble beginnings to international fame, he has pushed himself in every way, while still giving back to the community.

Name the 3 Jackie Chan films that come to mind? Project A, Meals on Wheels, New Police Story

What is your most favourite Jackie Chan film and why? This is a hard one, but I would say The Myth. Not only does he have incredible fight scenes as always, but he shows he can play a more serious role, and showcases his excellent ability to sing as well. New Police Story might be a close second, showing a bit more humour and another time Jackie Chan demonstrates his acting abilities in a different role.

Did you know, Jackie Chan…was born Chan Kong-sang, literally meaning "Born in Hong Kong Chan"?

Leave a personal Message for Jackie: Jackie, you have been my role model ever since I was a young boy. I hope one day we will get to meet!

Fan No.58 - Chophoreak Ok

Name: Chophoreak Ok, 17, Wetherill Park, Sydney, Australia.

I love good music from the 90s, Utada Hikaru (8 year fan) and Lady Gaga. I'm also aspiring to become an on-screen actor and wouldn't mind doing some voice overs for cartoons or anime. I love to dress in clothes which I know other people don't (my mum doesn't like it) but I do because it shows my personality of outgoing and very spontaneous. I may appear quiet at first meeting but as the day goes on I can become a bit annoying.

What Attracts you to Jackie & his films? Jackie Chan is a natural actor and fighter. He uses his own choreography, the environment he is in to his advantage and he is very very funny.

What do you admire the most about Jackie? His jokes, his dopiness and how he always gives to others rather than taking.

Name the 3 Jackie Chan films that come to mind? Rumble in the Bronx, Drunken Master and Rush Hour 2.

What is your most favourite Jackie Chan film and why? The new Karate Kid. Although he didn't do much fighting, I saw a new side of his acting. When I saw his crying scene, I felt it and to see Jackie (Mr. Han), a very humble guy crying I feel like crying myself. And he also had some very funny gags which he is also known for so it was still the whole Jackie package.

Did you know, Jackie Chan is one of the very few asians to have inspired the whole world and become a great icon in his own right. There aren't many asian singers nor that many actors who are very big (besides Lucy Liu, Kelly Hu, Bruce Lee, Utada Hikaru etc..) yet still able to care for their fans and many others.

Leave a personal Message for Jackie: Hey Jackie!!! You are awesome. I would love to one day act in a non-fighting movie with you. Maybe you as my grandfather or something. I'm looking forward to it. Haha.

What is your most favourite Jackie Chan film and why? rumble in the bronx, mr nice guy, forbidden kingdom its hard to pick a favourite.. maybe.. rumble in the bronx becos he was like a humble guy that tried to save a girl who was only faking so that her friends could beat him up. But then because of his nice attitude and his skillful fighting, the girl ends up liking him and he gains the respect of those bad guys.. and even teams up with them to take out these even more badder guys.. how crazy.

What do you admire the most about Jackie? The fact he has broken so many bones, insists on doing his own stunts and the amount of training and the composure he keeps throughout filming. I know if I had a plug in my brain i'd think twice about doing my own stunts again... but oh no not Jackie.

Name the 3 Jackie Chan films that come to mind? Drunken Master - Jackie Chans first notable role, Supercop - Jackie's stuns are amazing! Rush Hour 1 - A hilareous film, Jackie holds it all together!

He proved his skills to this world by his death defying stunts and by his action…

WHAT DO YOU ADMIRE THE MOST ABOUT JACKIE?
here is an simple gesture of jackie chan. He is an example of good human being..i like his character more than his movies.. sweet and friendly human being!
A huge model of the first audio CD was given by our CM to Jackie Chan who gleefully launched the audio of 'Dasavatharam' yesterday. The model was wrapped in plastic and when it was given to the Hollywood star the plastic was ripped off and carelessly tossed aside.

With the entire crowd witnessing, Jackie casually picked up the crumpled plastic waste that was tossed carelessly on the floor and promptly dumped it in a bin. Only then did a couple of security staff come forward to the aid of Mr. Chan. Though this act is not something life-saving, what Jackie Chan did without any pride before so many people has come as an eye opener to many who were present for the music launch function."

this is how an celebrity should be..hats off jackie..

believable, you can barely tell he is putting on an act.

endurance are two great qualities, although i don’t personally know him, but from what i see and hear he is a great man who is warm and very easy going. A great role model to me personally, he was the one that got me into learning self defence, it shows that martial arts or any kind of physical sports does not limit to both age nor gender
Name the 3 Jackie Chan film that come to mind? Rush Hour, shanghai noon and tuxedo

What is your most favourite Jackie Chan film and why?
All the rush hours, as i believe it is great to see some cross culturing issues as Jackie chan is finding himself in America and working with a partner who is of African American descent, it is great to see that both characters realise they have to work together to achieve their common goal and in the process realising their not so much difference to one another despite what they may look like on the surface, it is hiliarious seeing Jackie chan trying to be a negro gangster and the little habits and slangs he picks up on the way.
