I am a writer, director, actor and fight choreographer - and yes, sometimes all at once! Having grown up on Hong Kong cinema, much of my childhood was spent watching Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li and Donnie yen kicking ass as well enjoying the genius of John Woo and Stephen Chow. And yes this does make me more Chinese than my Chinese friends! ^^
What attract you to Jackie Chan and his films?
As a martial artist and film maker myself, Jackie was (and is) one of my biggest inspirations. He is a true artist, constantly pushing the boundaries on physical movement, expression, and humour. He paved the way for action films, and arts such as Parkour! His passion, dedication, positivity, and genius artistry is what makes him one of the best!
What do you admire most about Jackie Chan?
I admire Jackie's bravery, honesty, skill, artistry, character, and expression.
Name 3 Jackie Chan films that come to mind?
This is tough, how can I choose only 3? It should be 'what are my top 10 Jackie Films'! But to humour the question... Dragons Forever, Police Story, and Little Big Soldier.
What is your most favourite Jackie Chan film and why?
Dragons Forever - Yuen Biao's character! 3 way fight with Sammo, Biao and Jackie!
Police Story - The intensity! Jackie's whole hearted, yet desperate character giving everything! Maggie Cheung.
Little Big Soldier - Jackie's best character, the warm hearted, knowledgeable prankster soldier who just wants peace. The cinematography, and the fight choreography.
One fact you know about Jackie Chan
He took over filming from Lau Gar Leung on Drunken Master II and directed the end fight scene - which was the best in the film!
